Le Cap d'Agde, in the Hérault department (Occitanie), is one of the largest seaside resorts on the Languedoc coast. Of the fourteen campsites listed, twelve face the sea and two a lagoon, reflecting a stretch of land squeezed between the Mediterranean and the lagoons that line this part of the coast.
The Cap d'Agde coastline stretches over several kilometres of sandy beaches, between Mont Saint-Loup, an extinct volcano overlooking the resort, and the first lagoons of the Étang de Thau a little further west.
Camping at Le Cap d'Agde means enjoying a very wide choice of beaches and seaside facilities, in a resort that remains one of the busiest on the Hérault coast in season.
Mont Saint-Loup, an extinct volcano rising to around a hundred metres, offers the widest viewpoint over the resort, the coast and the hinterland. At its foot, the harbour of Le Cap d'Agde, one of the largest marinas in Europe, shapes the whole seaside life of the town.
The Musée de l'Éphèbe, dedicated to underwater archaeology, displays in particular the famous bronze statue found at the mouth of the Hérault, evidence of the site's ancient past, occupied from Greek and then Roman times.
The naturist district of Le Cap d'Agde, one of the largest in Europe, remains a well-known feature of the resort, while the Aqualand water park rounds out the leisure offer. Further out, the waters of the Cap are also known for diving, with several wrecks accessible from the coast.
