Sète, in the Hérault department, in Occitanie, is a port town built between the sea and a lagoon, on a unique site where Mont Saint-Clair overlooks both the Mediterranean and the Thau basin. The four campsites listed here are all set by the sea.

Sète is crossed by canals that earned it the nickname Venice of the Languedoc, and it's on these canals that the famous water jousts are held every summer, where two teams face off standing on boats with lances and shields, a Sète tradition several centuries old. The Pointe Courte district, with its fishermen's houses, embodies well this down-to-earth, maritime identity.
Mont Saint-Clair, which overlooks the town, offers a 360-degree panorama over the Mediterranean, the Thau basin and the surrounding lagoons. At the top, the seaside cemetery, made famous by Paul Valéry's poem, also holds the grave of singer Georges Brassens, born in the town.
The Thau basin, just behind the town, rounds out the picture with its oyster beds and fishing villages.
