Carnon, in the Hérault department (Occitanie), is a seaside resort on the Montpellier coast, between Palavas-les-Flots and La Grande-Motte. The three campsites listed are split between sea and lake, the town being squeezed between the Mediterranean and the Étang de l'Or, a vast lagoon that lines the area on the land side.
This position, on a narrow coastal strip, gives Carnon two faces: sandy beach on the sea side, calm water on the lagoon side, with a marina that shapes the resort's daily life.
