Vias-Plage is the coastal district of the town of Vias, in the Hérault department, in Occitanie, between Agde and Portiragnes, on one of the busiest stretches of the Languedoc coast for camping. The campsites listed here all benefit from seaside access, on a fine sandy beach that stretches for several kilometres.
This seaside area, distinct from the historic village of Vias set further north around the Canal du Midi, developed essentially around outdoor tourism, with a high concentration of campsites along the seafront and just behind it, on a flat coastal plain typical of this part of the Hérault.
People come to Vias-Plage for direct, easy sea access, in an area offering all the amenities of a lively seaside resort, right next to Cap d'Agde and its more urban leisure offering, while staying just minutes from the town of Agde and its historic centre.
Vias-Plage is organised around its long fine sandy beach, one of the busiest on the Hérault coast in the summer season, with more natural, dune-covered areas towards its edges, less densely developed than the heart of the resort. This is one of the reasons for the strong presence of camping in this area, well suited to family seaside tourism.
The Canal du Midi, which crosses the village of Vias a little further north, remains accessible for a walk away from the beach, with its heritage of locks and bridges listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The nearby Cap d'Agde brings its marina, one of the largest in the Mediterranean, and its varied water sports, while Agde, an older town partly built on a former Greek site, rounds out a discovery of the area with its volcanic-stone cathedral, built in part on an ancient Greek site.
