Sea, lake, river or pond: the 41 naturist campsites in this selection share one thing, water just a short walk from your pitch. Some open directly onto a naturist beach, others stretch along a lake or river where you can swim naked in complete freedom, far from textile beaches.
On the Mediterranean, Le Sérignan Plage Nature in the Hérault has direct access to its sandy beach. In Corsica, the east coast is lined with large naturist resorts: Riva Bella and Bagheera in Linguizzetta, La Chiappa and U Furu near Porto-Vecchio. In the Aude, Le Clapotis sits in La Palme, between lagoon and sea.
On the Atlantic coast, the Gironde and the Landes are home to the largest naturist centres: CHM Montalivet and Arnaoutchot, set in pine forest a few steps from the ocean. Further north, Le Petit Dauphin in Les Mathes (Charente-Maritime), Le Clos Marot in Piriac-sur-Mer (Pays de la Loire), CNBS La Pinède in Belz (Morbihan) and the Club du Soleil de la Porte Océane in Yport (Normandy) cover the Atlantic and Channel coasts.
In the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Verdon Provence is in Esparron-de-Verdon, close to the lake of the same name. In the Hérault, Le Village du Bosc is in Octon, next to Lac du Salagou. La Serre de Portelas in the Puy-de-Dôme, Le Courtialet in the Isère and the Ferme naturiste de l’Oliverie in the Deux-Sèvres also have their own stretch of water. By ponds, Domaine Laborde (Lot-et-Garonne), Le Colombier in the Vendée and Les Étangs de Saint-Pancras (Haute-Saône) are all about peace and quiet.
This is the most common setting in the selection. In the Gard, Domaine de la Sablière and La Genèse line the Cèze, while in the hills behind Nice, L’Origan and Le Haut Chandelalar have their own riverside in the mountains. The south-west follows with Le Couderc in the Dordogne, Le Clos Barrat in the Lot, Les Aillos in the Haute-Garonne, Devèze in the Gers and L’Églantière in the Hautes-Pyrénées.
Swimming does not stop at the beach: 30 of the 41 campsites also have a pool, 13 of them heated and a few covered, ideal early and late in the season. Eight also have a water slide for children.
A naturist licence is often required on arrival and can usually be bought on site. On public beaches, nudity is only allowed on officially designated naturist stretches, and reception will point you to the nearest ones. Every by the water campsite is checked against its official listing and real photos, not a marketing pitch.
We cross-check public Google ratings and reviews. An establishment below family standards doesn't make the selection.
