Marseillan-Plage, in the Hérault department, is the seaside face of the town of Marseillan, in Occitanie, on the Gulf of Lion. The four campsites listed are all linked to the sea, two of them benefiting from direct beach access, in keeping with a resort built on the Mediterranean coast, between Sète and Cap d'Agde.
Camping in Marseillan-Plage means enjoying easy access to sand and water all along the coastline, in an area that saw major tourist development from the 1960s onward. The town benefits from a pronounced Mediterranean climate, ideal for a long swimming season.
Marseillan-Plage stretches along a straight coastline largely developed for summer visitors, with direct beach access from several parts of the resort. Inland, the historic village of Marseillan, on the shores of the Étang de Thau, keeps an older fishing and pleasure-boat harbour, crossed by the Canal du Midi.
The Étang de Thau, famous for its oyster and mussel farming, notably around the village of Bouzigues, offers a stark contrast with the open Mediterranean frontage of Marseillan-Plage. Sète, a neighbouring port town nicknamed the Venice of the Languedoc, and Cap d'Agde round out the excursion options in this very popular part of the Hérault.
