Everything about the campsites by the water in Saint Raphaël

Saint-Raphaël, in the Var department, in Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, stands out for the diversity of its landscapes: of the five campsites listed, four are by the sea, one near a lake and one near a river. This variety comes from the terrain of the Estérel massif, which overlooks the town and multiplies the waterways flowing down towards the coast.

Camping in Saint-Raphaël means being able to choose between a stay with your feet in salt water, facing the Mediterranean and its famous red porphyry rocks, or a spot further inland, by a body of water or a river flowing down from the Estérel. The town benefits from a long coastline, between urban beaches and wilder coves towards the massif.

This plurality of settings, rare on this part of the Côte d'Azur, makes it possible to tailor the stay to the desired atmosphere, between a lively seaside and a more natural setting.

What to see and do in Saint Raphaël

Saint-Raphaël preserves rich Gallo-Roman heritage, visible notably at the town's archaeological museum, which displays among other things amphorae recovered from the surrounding seabed. The Notre-Dame-de-la-Victoire basilica, in Romano-Byzantine style, overlooks the town centre and recalls the city's military history.

The Estérel massif, with its red porphyry rocks plunging straight into the sea, offers one of the most spectacular landscapes on the Var coast. The Corniche d'Or, the road that runs along this coast, serves several viewpoints and coves accessible on foot, including the Cap Dramont, known for its trails and small harbour.

Saint-Raphaël's old harbour stays lively all year round, between fishermen and sailors, and is a good starting point for exploring both the coast and the wooded Estérel hinterland.

our method

How we select every campsite

1

A verified criterion, not a promise

Every by the water campsite is checked against its official listing and real photos, not a marketing pitch.

2

Reputation, backed by reviews

We cross-check public Google ratings and reviews. An establishment below family standards doesn't make the selection.

3

Direct booking, transparent pricing

You book directly with the campsite, no middleman or hidden markup. The price shown is the price you pay.
