Finistère, with 135 listed campsites, is one of the region's best-equipped departments, and the sea dominates very widely: 126 establishments border the coastline, against only ten on river banks and just one near a pond or lake. This imbalance is explained by the department's geography itself, literally the 'end of the world', surrounded by sea on three sides.
From the Bay of Douarnenez to the Pointe du Raz, passing through the Crozon peninsula and Bigouden country, the Finistère coastline chains cliffs, great sandy beaches and sheltered coves, offering great variety of sites for seaside camping. The few establishments on river banks benefit from sheltered estuaries, such as those of the Aulne or Odet.

Finistère concentrates some of Brittany's most emblematic natural sites: the Pointe du Raz, a spectacular promontory facing the Atlantic Ocean, the Crozon peninsula with its cliffs and beaches, and the archipelago of the Ponant islands, including Ouessant and Glénan, renowned for their turquoise waters.
Brest, a port city rebuilt after World War II, is home to Océanopolis, a centre dedicated to discovering the oceans, while Quimper, the department's prefecture, preserves a Gothic cathedral and a historic timber-framed centre. Bigouden country, to the southwest, is known for its traditions and typical costumes.
Between rocky points, preserved islands and towns of character, Finistère embodies the emblematic image of the end of the Breton world.
