Plonévez-Porzay, in the Finistère department, in Brittany, lines the Bay of Douarnenez, on the west coast of Brittany. The town benefits from direct sea access, with a coastline marked by long sandy beaches and dunes that give this part of Finistère its distinctive character.
Camping in Plonévez-Porzay means choosing a setting that's still rural and unspoilt, far from the denser development of other parts of the Breton coast. The town stays close to Douarnenez and the Ménez-Hom massif, making it easy to alternate between beach days and discovering the hinterland, between moorland and hills overlooking the bay.
The Sainte-Anne-la-Palud chapel, standing alone facing the sea in the town, is the setting every year for one of the largest 'pardons' in Brittany, a traditional religious procession that still draws many pilgrims and curious visitors in late August. The site, with its dunes and vast beach, remains one of the most iconic in the Bay of Douarnenez.
The Ménez-Hom massif, the highest point of the nearby Crozon peninsula, offers a panorama that takes in the Bay of Douarnenez on one side and the Brest roadstead on the other, a popular hike in the region.
