The Île d'Oléron, in the Charente-Maritime department, is the largest island on the French Atlantic coast and the second largest in mainland France after Corsica. Between ocean beaches sheltered by large pine forests, salt marshes and oyster-farming villages, the Île d'Oléron offers a rare diversity of landscapes for a seaside destination.
