In Le Château-d’Oléron, a short walk from the port and its citadel, Camping Le Fief Melin is a 4-star site with 144 pitches set among lush greenery. The Atlantic beaches are 1.8 km away and the island’s cycle paths 400 m: you can cycle to the beach, no car needed.
The site has 61 shaded pitches for tents, caravans and motorhomes, with or without electricity, and 55 rentals: mobile homes with 1 to 3 bedrooms and a covered terrace, a chalet, an ecolodge and cabins. It is open from 3 April to 2 October 2026.
Le Fief Melin offers the services of a 4-star site on flat, easy-access grounds, including for guests with reduced mobility. There is a snack bar, a convenience shop and free Wi-Fi, plus a laundry room, books and board games.
Bikes can be hired on site through the partner Cycles Demion, and the island’s cycle paths start 400 m away. In season, the free summer shuttle bus stops every hour right outside the campsite.
Dogs and cats are welcome for a supplement: one animal per rental and three per pitch, kept on a lead, microchipped and vaccinated. Category 1 and 2 dogs are not allowed.
On site, children have a playground, treasure hunts, orienteering and craft workshops. Older guests enjoy the multisports pitch, the pétanque area and its tournament, and themed evenings around the snack bar.
From the campsite, the citadel of Le Château-d’Oléron offers a fine view of the ocean, and boats leave for Fort Boyard. From Boyardville, the Île d’Aix is 30 minutes away by boat and La Rochelle 50 minutes. The Chassiron lighthouse, the Saumonards forest and the Rémigeasse beaches can be reached by bike or shuttle, and La Palmyre zoo is 40 minutes away.

Camping Le Fief Melin is located at 48 rue des Alizés, 17480 Le Château-d’Oléron, on the Île d’Oléron. It can be reached all year round on +33 5 46 47 60 85 or by email at contact@campingfiefmelin.com. Arrivals are possible until 6.30 pm from April to June and in September, and until 8 pm in July and August; if you arrive later, please let reception know. Rentals arrive on Saturday, Sunday or Wednesday.
