Everything about the campsites by the water in BOIS PLAGE EN RE

Le Bois-Plage-en-Ré, on the Île de Ré in the Charente-Maritime department (Nouvelle-Aquitaine), owes much of its identity to its beach: the town stretches for several kilometres of fine sand facing the ocean, making it one of the most generous coastal stretches on the island. The campsite listed here faces this sea.

The Île de Ré cultivates an unmistakable way of life: white houses with green shutters, vineyards and salt marshes, and cycle paths that run along the coast. Le Bois-Plage is a central anchor point, halfway between the livelier towns of Saint-Martin-de-Ré and La Couarde.

Staying here means enjoying direct access to the beach while remaining close to the island's markets and harbours, in an atmosphere more village-like than the more touristy resorts of the Ré coastline.

What to see and do in BOIS PLAGE EN RE

Le Bois-Plage-en-Ré is also, along with Ars-en-Ré, one of the island's main wine-growing villages: the vineyards of Uniré, the cooperative that produces the island's pineau and cognac, cover part of the town's land and can be visited in season.

The village still has its fortified church, typical of Ré's religious architecture, once designed to withstand attacks from the sea. All around, a network of cycle paths makes it easy to reach both Saint-Martin-de-Ré, a former stronghold listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site for its Vauban fortifications, and the salt marshes in the north of the island.

Le Bois-Plage beach, very wide at low tide, remains one of the recognised spots for land-sailing and kitesurfing on the Île de Ré, activities that have been part of the local scene for decades.

our method

How we select every campsite

1

A verified criterion, not a promise

Every by the water campsite is checked against its official listing and real photos, not a marketing pitch.

2

Reputation, backed by reviews

We cross-check public Google ratings and reviews. An establishment below family standards doesn't make the selection.

3

Direct booking, transparent pricing

You book directly with the campsite, no middleman or hidden markup. The price shown is the price you pay.
