Everything about the campsites by the water in Sarzeau

Sarzeau, in the Morbihan department, in Brittany, covers much of the Rhuys peninsula, between the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Morbihan. The five campsites listed in the town are all by the sea, benefiting from this dual coastal frontage distinctive to the peninsula.

Camping in Sarzeau means being able to choose between beaches open to the ocean, more exposed to waves, and more sheltered shores on the gulf side, facing the Morbihan's many islands. This diversity of coastlines within a single town is fairly rare on the Breton coast.

The town also remains marked by the gulf's oyster-farming tradition, an element that rounds out the more classic seaside image of its ocean frontage.

What to see and do in Sarzeau

The Château de Suscinio, a moated medieval fortress, is Sarzeau's most striking landmark. A former residence of the Dukes of Brittany, it is said to have been the birthplace of Gilles de Rais, a companion of Joan of Arc who later became notorious. The castle can be visited and offers an open view over the sea from its ramparts.

The Rhuys peninsula has two quite distinct faces: the ocean coast, with its sandy beaches and dunes, and the Gulf of Morbihan coast, more sheltered, dotted with oyster beds and views over the islands. The coastal path that circles the peninsula makes it possible to discover both atmospheres in a single walk.

Sarzeau also keeps a lively village centre, with its market and church, a practical starting point for exploring the whole peninsula.

our method

How we select every campsite

1

A verified criterion, not a promise

Every by the water campsite is checked against its official listing and real photos, not a marketing pitch.

2

Reputation, backed by reviews

We cross-check public Google ratings and reviews. An establishment below family standards doesn't make the selection.

3

Direct booking, transparent pricing

You book directly with the campsite, no middleman or hidden markup. The price shown is the price you pay.
