Everything about the campsites by the water in Carnac

Carnac, in the Morbihan department (Brittany), is known both for its megalithic alignments and for its coastline, on the edge of the Bay of Quiberon. Of the seven campsites listed, all face the sea and one also benefits from a nearby lake.

The town is split between the village, around the archaeological site, and Carnac-Plage, a more recent seaside resort built on the edge of the Bay of Quiberon, sheltered by the Quiberon peninsula and by the island of Houat offshore.

Camping in Carnac means enjoying a sheltered coastline, with generally calm waters thanks to the shelter of the bay, while staying just minutes from the archaeological site that has made the town famous worldwide.

to discover

What to see and do in Carnac

The Carnac alignments, several thousand standing stones arranged in rows over more than three kilometres, form the largest megalithic site in the world. Its origin is still debated by archaeologists, and the site can be visited partly freely and partly on guided routes depending on the season.

Carnac-Plage, on the edge of the Bay of Quiberon, offers several kilometres of fine sand sheltered by the Quiberon peninsula, in waters calmer than the open Breton coast further out.

The Carnac prehistory museum, one of the richest in France on this period, rounds out a visit to the megalithic sites, while the Tumulus Saint-Michel, a monumental burial mound in the heart of the village, offers a view over the whole town.

our method

How we select every campsite

1

A verified criterion, not a promise

Every by the water campsite is checked against its official listing and real photos, not a marketing pitch.

2

Reputation, backed by reviews

We cross-check public Google ratings and reviews. An establishment below family standards doesn't make the selection.

3

Direct booking, transparent pricing

You book directly with the campsite, no middleman or hidden markup. The price shown is the price you pay.
