the guide

Everything about the campsites by the water in Pénestin

Pénestin, in the Morbihan department, in Brittany, occupies a distinctive position at the entrance to the Vilaine estuary, on the Atlantic coast. Most of the town's campsites benefit from direct sea access, complemented by a few addresses closer to the estuary, where fresh and salt water mix according to the tides.

The town spans a peninsula lined with low cliffs and beaches, with a wilder character than some neighbouring resorts on the Côte d'Amour. Camping in Pénestin makes it possible to enjoy a still-unspoilt coastline, locally known for its oyster farming, and a practical location for exploring both the Morbihan and southern Brittany towards La Baule.

to discover

What to see and do in Pénestin

Pénestin is known for its oyster farming, a historic activity in the town still found along the Vilaine and at certain points on the coast, with the chance to taste oysters straight from the producers. The Pointe du Bile, with its clay cliffs of changing colour, is one of the most photographed natural sites in the town.

The Mine d'Or beach, the largest in Pénestin, owes its name to a local legend linked to a shipwreck. The coastal path that runs along the whole peninsula makes it possible to discover coves and viewpoints over the Vilaine estuary, with the Loire-Atlantique coast visible on the other side of the river mouth on clear days.

our method

How we select every campsite

1

A verified criterion, not a promise

Every by the water campsite is checked against its official listing and real photos, not a marketing pitch.

2

Reputation, backed by reviews

We cross-check public Google ratings and reviews. An establishment below family standards doesn't make the selection.

3

Direct booking, transparent pricing

You book directly with the campsite, no middleman or hidden markup. The price shown is the price you pay.
