Everything about the campsites by the water in Gruissan

Gruissan, in the Aude department, is built in a circle around the remains of the Barberousse tower, a village layout easily recognisable from the air, made famous in particular by the film Betty Blue, shot among its famous stilt houses. The four campsites listed here on this portal are all by the sea, in keeping with the town's clear seaside vocation on the Mediterranean coast.

The town stretches between the first foothills of the Corbières and the coast, with a long fine sandy beach very busy in summer. Gruissan-Plage, a seaside district distinct from the historic village, is where most of the tourist offering is concentrated. It's a camping destination typical of the Aude coast, sunny, between a picturesque village and a large Mediterranean beach.

What to see and do in Gruissan

The village of Gruissan stands out for its unique circular layout, arranged around the ruins of the Barberousse tower, the remains of a medieval fortress that still overlooks the colourful rooftops of the houses. The stilt houses of Gruissan-Plage, built on the sand spit, form a distinctive architectural ensemble that has become emblematic of the resort.

The large Plage des Chalets, very wide, stretches for several kilometres and remains a popular spot for board-sport enthusiasts, particularly land-sailing thanks to the region's steady winds. The Massif de la Clape, just to the north, offers hiking trails with views over the sea and the surrounding vineyards. Between medieval village, coastline and wine-growing hinterland, Gruissan brings together several facets of the Aude coast.

our method

How we select every campsite

1

A verified criterion, not a promise

Every by the water campsite is checked against its official listing and real photos, not a marketing pitch.

2

Reputation, backed by reviews

We cross-check public Google ratings and reviews. An establishment below family standards doesn't make the selection.

3

Direct booking, transparent pricing

You book directly with the campsite, no middleman or hidden markup. The price shown is the price you pay.
