Camping La Grande Cosse: between vineyards and the sea
Camping La Grande Cosse has set up on the Route des Vins in Saint-Pierre-la-Mer (11560), 500 metres from the Mediterranean and at the heart of an unspoilt natural environment. Open from 30 April to 20 September 2026, the season stretches over nearly five months to make the most of both the southern heat and the mild September evenings.
A Capfun-affiliated campsite, it offers air-conditioned mobile homes (essential in the height of the Languedoc summer), chalets and pitches for tents, caravans and motorhomes. Capacity of 2 to 8 people to suit every family configuration. A special mention for the Lebech mobile home with a garrigue view, which offers a privileged view of the sunset — a favourite among regulars.
The setting is exceptional: garrigue scrubland all around, salt lagoons where pink flamingos gather, Languedoc vineyards as far as the eye can see, and the sea close by. A rare setting that combines beach, terroir and nature in a single place.
Services and comfort at Camping La Grande Cosse
For dining, Camping La Grande Cosse offers an on-site restaurant and snack bar. The kitchen showcases Languedoc flavours: fish and seafood from the Mediterranean, local wines (the campsite is on the Route des Vins, after all), sun-ripened vegetables, regional meats. The bar keeps summer evenings going in a relaxed atmosphere, ideal for meeting your mobile-home neighbours.
For practical facilities, Wi-Fi is available in the communal areas, along with bed linen and cleaning kit rental, a shared tumble dryer, and a fridge and washing machine available to rent depending on availability. The on-site grocery shop helps out, and the Saint-Pierre-la-Mer market (a must to explore) offers the day’s fresh produce.
Conditions: pets accepted under certain conditions, wheelchair access, free cancellation available. Bikers and cyclists (cycle paths run along the coast) are welcome. Payment methods: credit card, cash, bank transfer, ANCV holiday vouchers. Reception staff speak French and English.
Seaside activities and leisure at Camping La Grande Cosse
In peak season, Camping La Grande Cosse offers an entertainment programme suited to a natural setting: sports tournaments, themed evenings (often around Camargue themes), kids’ club, mini-disco, mascots. The atmosphere is more relaxed than at the large complexes along the coast, in the spirit of nature-and-culture stays. On site: multi-sports pitch, pétanque, table tennis, playgrounds.
Towards the sea, 500 metres away you can reach the large beach at Saint-Pierre-la-Mer: swimming in the warm Mediterranean, paddleboarding, sea kayaking, sailing school, jet-skiing (nearby), long walks on the sand. The neighbouring lagoons allow for birdwatching (flamingos, herons, egrets) and walks along the salty water.
To explore: visit Fleury and its historic village, the typical Port des Cabanes, Narbonne with its Roman monuments (20 minutes), Carcassonne with its medieval citadel (45 minutes), Cathar abbeys, Languedoc wine estates — the Route des Vins starts right here. The Saint-Pierre-la-Mer market remains a must, with its fresh produce and southern village atmosphere.
