Everything about the campsites by the water in Perpignan

Perpignan, the capital of the Pyrénées-Orientales department, in Occitanie, lies a few kilometres from the Mediterranean, crossed by the Têt, a river flowing down from the Catalan Pyrenees. The campsites in the town and its surroundings are split between the coast, towards Canet-en-Roussillon, the river and a coastal lagoon, reflecting the varied geography of the Roussillon.

Camping around Perpignan makes it possible to enjoy both the Catalan culture deeply rooted in the city and quick access to the beaches of the Roussillon, known for some of the highest sunshine levels in France. Being close to the Têt and the coastal lagoons adds a calmer dimension, ideal for observing nature between two beach days.

What to see and do in Perpignan

Perpignan was long the capital of the Kingdom of Majorca, still evidenced by the Palace of the Kings of Majorca, a medieval fortress that overlooks the city from a hill. The Castillet, a red-brick tower emblematic of the city, marks the entrance to the historic centre and today houses a museum dedicated to Catalan arts and traditions.

Catalan culture is everywhere in Perpignan, in the festivals, the language still spoken by some residents and the food. Not far from the city, the Étang de Canet-Saint-Nazaire draws birdwatching enthusiasts, while the nearby coast, between Canet-en-Roussillon and Saint-Cyprien, offers long sandy beaches typical of the Gulf of Lion.

our method

How we select every campsite

1

A verified criterion, not a promise

Every by the water campsite is checked against its official listing and real photos, not a marketing pitch.

2

Reputation, backed by reviews

We cross-check public Google ratings and reviews. An establishment below family standards doesn't make the selection.

3

Direct booking, transparent pricing

You book directly with the campsite, no middleman or hidden markup. The price shown is the price you pay.
