The site, developed to welcome visitors, can be explored on foot from the riverbanks.
The Gardon itself, below the bridge, can be paddled by canoe over several kilometres, a popular way to discover the monument from a different angle, between limestone gorges and generally calm waters in the summer season. Swimmers also make use of the natural banks laid out around the site.
The village of Vers-Pont-du-Gard, more low-key, keeps a typical Provençal character, with its lanes and surrounding garrigue.
