Pont du Gard, Uzès and Provençal villages

The Gorges du Gardon’s location makes it an exceptional base for discovering the touristic richness of the Gard. The Pont du Gard, close by, is an absolute must: this UNESCO-listed Roman masterpiece deserves at least half a day to fully enjoy the museum and the panoramas. Uzès, France’s first duchy, is 15 minutes away: its weekly market on Wednesdays and Saturday mornings, its Place aux Herbes and its duchy are well worth the detour. Castillon-du-Gard, perched on a rocky spur, reveals its cobbled streets and its exceptional panorama over the Pont du Gard. Further away, Avignon and its Palais des Papes, Nîmes and its Roman arena, as well as the Provençal villages of the Lubéron, are within a short distance. For sports enthusiasts, hiking and mountain biking in the Gorges du Gardon massif are on the programme.
