Everything about the campsites by the water in Mimizan

Mimizan, in the Landes department, is made up of two quite distinct hubs: Mimizan-Bourg, inland, and Mimizan-Plage, on the Atlantic coast, in Nouvelle-Aquitaine. The five campsites listed are mostly linked to the sea, with one establishment benefiting from a body of water, the Étang de Mimizan, in keeping with this dual ocean and freshwater identity.

Camping in Mimizan means enjoying a large ocean beach known for surfing, while keeping the option of a calmer stay by the lake, linked to the ocean by a navigable stream. The town remains one of the best-supplied on the Landes coast for camping options, between pine forest and long sandy beaches.

to discover

What to see and do in Mimizan

Mimizan-Plage is known for its waves, ground popular with experienced surfers thanks to a steady Atlantic swell, with a dune and a lighthouse that mark the coastal landscape. The Étang de Mimizan, linked to the ocean by a stream, offers a calmer body of water, well suited to sailing and paddleboarding.

The bell-tower porch of the Mimizan priory, a remnant of a medieval Benedictine abbey, remains one of the few historic monuments in the area and is evidence of how old the village is, well before the coast's tourist development. The pine forest linking Mimizan-Bourg to Mimizan-Plage is easy to explore by bike on shaded paths typical of the Landes.

our method

How we select every campsite

1

A verified criterion, not a promise

Every by the water campsite is checked against its official listing and real photos, not a marketing pitch.

2

Reputation, backed by reviews

We cross-check public Google ratings and reviews. An establishment below family standards doesn't make the selection.

3

Direct booking, transparent pricing

You book directly with the campsite, no middleman or hidden markup. The price shown is the price you pay.
