Brem-sur-Mer, in the Vendée department (Pays de la Loire), is a small town on the Vendée coast, between Les Sables-d'Olonne and Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie. The campsite listed here faces the ocean, in an area known for its beaches and surf spots.
The Brem-sur-Mer coast alternates between sandy beaches and rocky areas, with waves consistent enough to attract a local surfing community and surf schools. Inland, the town keeps a more rural character, between vineyards and Vendée hedgerow countryside.
This village remains quieter than its neighbours Les Sables-d'Olonne or Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie, making it an appealing base for those seeking sea access without the tourist density of the larger resorts on the Vendée coast.
Brem-sur-Mer is one of the few towns on the Vendée coast to produce wine: the Fiefs Vendéens, a recognised appellation, has several estates here open to visitors, a legacy of a long-standing local wine-growing tradition, kept alive notably around the Saint-Nicolas priory.
