Everything about the campsites by the water in Porto-Vecchio

Porto-Vecchio, in Corse-du-Sud, overlooks a deep gulf surrounded by wooded hills, on the island's east coast. The large majority of the town's campsites benefit from direct sea access, complemented by one address on a riverbank, in a region crossed by several waterways flowing down from the mountainous interior.

Camping in Porto-Vecchio means enjoying one of the most renowned coastlines in Corsica, with turquoise waters and white sandy beaches that have made the region's name well beyond the island. The fortified upper town overlooks the harbour and the gulf, offering a historic anchor point to a territory today largely geared towards seaside tourism.

What to see and do in Porto-Vecchio

The citadel of Porto-Vecchio, built by the Genoese in the sixteenth century to protect the harbour from Barbary raids, still overlooks the upper town with its ramparts and narrow lanes. The harbour itself long lived off salt production, traces of which can still be found in the old salt pans at the edge of the town.

The Gulf of Porto-Vecchio is home to some of the most photographed beaches in Corsica, such as Palombaggia and Santa Giulia, with their turquoise waters lined with umbrella pines. Inland, the Corsican maquis scrubland and the surrounding mountains offer a striking contrast with the coast, reachable for day hikes from the town.

our method

How we select every campsite

1

A verified criterion, not a promise

Every by the water campsite is checked against its official listing and real photos, not a marketing pitch.

2

Reputation, backed by reviews

We cross-check public Google ratings and reviews. An establishment below family standards doesn't make the selection.

3

Direct booking, transparent pricing

You book directly with the campsite, no middleman or hidden markup. The price shown is the price you pay.
