Everything about the campsites by the water in Bonifacio

Bonifacio, in Corse-du-Sud, occupies the southernmost tip of Corsica, facing Sardinia. The seven campsites listed in the town all face the sea: there's no alternative to the coast here, but it's a coastline among the most spectacular in the Mediterranean, between limestone cliffs and coves.

The town is built around its citadel, perched more than sixty metres above the water, and its harbour, tucked at the far end of a narrow natural inlet. The Strait of Bonifacio, which separates Corsica from Sardinia, forms a protected marine nature reserve known for the clarity of its water.

Camping around Bonifacio means choosing access to white sandy beaches nestled between the cliffs, such as those of Piantarella or the Bay of Sperone, in an unspoilt, windswept Mediterranean setting.

What to see and do in Bonifacio

The citadel of Bonifacio, an upper town perched on white limestone cliffs, remains the most recognisable site in Corse-du-Sud. Its medieval lanes, its King of Aragon's Staircase carved straight into the rock, and its seaside cemetery offer a dizzying view over the Strait of Bonifacio.

Below, the harbour, tucked into a narrow inlet, is packed with restaurants and shops and serves as the starting point for boat trips to the Lavezzi islands, a nature reserve known for its clear waters, or to the sea caves carved into the surrounding cliffs.

The Domaine de Sperone, east of the town, and the Pointe de Pertusato with its lighthouse, round out the town's landmark sites, between coastal hiking and views over the strait separating Corsica from Sardinia.

our method

How we select every campsite

1

A verified criterion, not a promise

Every by the water campsite is checked against its official listing and real photos, not a marketing pitch.

2

Reputation, backed by reviews

We cross-check public Google ratings and reviews. An establishment below family standards doesn't make the selection.

3

Direct booking, transparent pricing

You book directly with the campsite, no middleman or hidden markup. The price shown is the price you pay.
