Everything about the campsites by the water in Paimpol

Paimpol, in the Côtes d'Armor department, in Brittany, is a historic harbour that has faced the sea for centuries. All the campsites in the town naturally benefit from direct coastal access, on a coastline carved with coves and rocky points characteristic of northern Brittany.

The town built its reputation on deep-sea fishing, particularly cod fishing off Iceland, a history still very present in local identity. Camping in Paimpol makes it possible to enjoy a coastline less crowded than other parts of the Breton coast, with many hiking possibilities along the coastal path, and a practical starting point for discovering the Île de Bréhat and the neighbouring archipelago.

What to see and do in Paimpol

Paimpol's harbour, kept lively by pleasure boats and the last remaining fishermen, keeps the memory of the Icelanders' saga, those sailors who set off every spring to fish for cod off Iceland, an adventure told notably in Pierre Loti's novel, An Iceland Fisherman. A museum dedicated to this maritime memory can be found in the town.

At the edge of Paimpol, the Abbaye de Beauport, a former thirteenth-century monastery partly in ruins, overlooks the bay in a remarkable setting. The town also serves as a boarding point for the Île de Bréhat, known for its mild climate and its absence of cars. A little further west begins the Pink Granite Coast, whose spectacular formations naturally extend a discovery of the Paimpol coastline.

our method

How we select every campsite

1

A verified criterion, not a promise

Every by the water campsite is checked against its official listing and real photos, not a marketing pitch.

2

Reputation, backed by reviews

We cross-check public Google ratings and reviews. An establishment below family standards doesn't make the selection.

3

Direct booking, transparent pricing

You book directly with the campsite, no middleman or hidden markup. The price shown is the price you pay.
