Everything about the campsites by the water in L'Île-Rousse

L'Île-Rousse, in Haute-Corse, owes its existence to Pascal Paoli, who founded the harbour in the eighteenth century to compete with Calvi and Bastia, then held by the Genoese. The campsites listed here on this portal reflect the diversity of the Balagne area: five establishments by the sea, one linked to a waterway and one to a body of water, in keeping with a region that combines the Mediterranean coast with hinterland valleys.

The town benefits from a mild microclimate typical of the Balagne, a wine- and olive-growing region in north-western Corsica. It's a camping destination that combines Mediterranean beaches, a historic harbour and a hinterland crossed by rivers, one of the most varied faces of the Corsican coastline.

What to see and do in L'Île-Rousse

The Île de la Pietra, linked to the harbour by a breakwater, takes its name from the pink granite quarries that supplied stone for many Corsican monuments, including Bastia's Statue of Liberty. A lighthouse still overlooks the Mediterranean from there.

L'Île-Rousse's covered market, on Place Paoli, brings together local producers under its nineteenth-century arcades and remains a must for discovering Balagne produce, olive oil and Corsican charcuterie foremost among them. The surrounding region, between vineyards and hilltop villages such as Sant'Antonino, lends itself to excursions into a hinterland crossed by several small rivers flowing down from the Corsican mountains. Between a historic harbour, a pink granite island and the wine-growing Balagne, L'Île-Rousse offers a concentrated taste of north-western Corsica.

our method

How we select every campsite

1

A verified criterion, not a promise

Every by the water campsite is checked against its official listing and real photos, not a marketing pitch.

2

Reputation, backed by reviews

We cross-check public Google ratings and reviews. An establishment below family standards doesn't make the selection.

3

Direct booking, transparent pricing

You book directly with the campsite, no middleman or hidden markup. The price shown is the price you pay.
