Camping Le Pont du Tarn takes its name from the old stone bridge spanning the river at the entrance to Florac-Trois-Rivières. The Tarn runs along the whole site, and pitches and rentals are laid out under the trees, a few steps from the bank.
At Florac, the Tarn is still a mountain river with crystal-clear water, a few kilometres before it carves its famous gorges between the limestone plateaus. The campsite sits at 550 m above sea level, at the foot of the Causse Méjean, and you fall asleep to the sound of the water.
The 3-star site has 182 pitches, 48 of them rentals, over 5 hectares. The Privilège pitches, 90 to 180 m² with a pergola, are on or beside the river, and the Coco Sweet, a hard-shell tent for 2 to 4 people, stands facing the water. Open from 28 April to 30 September 2027.
Motorhome owners have a service area, and an automatic barrier lets you return until 11pm, handy after a long day on the water.
Campsite life is centred on the water. The L’Estival restaurant is deliberately set at the far end of the site, at the foot of the old Pont du Tarn and a short walk from one of the beaches: under a large Berber tent, you can dine on pizza, burgers or brazier-grilled dishes from May to 9 September.
Near reception, the L’Escale bar serves coffee, craft beers, homemade cocktails and Italian ice cream, with bread and pastries baked on site in the morning. The large showers in the toilet block next to the beach let the whole family rinse off after the river.
The site has three toilet blocks, one of them heated, with a baby area and two cubicles adapted for people with reduced mobility. A launderette, Wi-Fi and fridge hire complete the services.
The accommodation closest to the river, such as the Coco Sweet, has no private bathroom: the shared blocks are then just a few metres away. The Freecamp packages, on the other hand, add a bathroom and kitchenette on the pitch.
The Tarn sets the pace: a swim in the morning, a nap on the flat rocks, fishing at sunset. In July and August, the kids’ and teens’ clubs fill the mornings, and music evenings take place under the bar’s Berber tent.
Downstream from Florac, the Gorges du Tarn can be explored by canoe, an outing reception can book for you. Neighbouring rivers offer more swimming spots: the Tarnon and the Mimente join the Tarn at Florac, and canyoning is available in the Tapoul gorge, very close to the campsite.
Higher up, the Lac de Barrandon on Mont Lozère is ideal for family fishing. And to see the Tarn from another angle, a boat trip from La Malène reveals the gorge’s cliffs from the water.
On the way back, Florac market, 2 km away, is the place to stock up on local produce for a picnic on the pebbles facing the old bridge.
