Everything about the campsites by the water in Haute-Saône

Haute-Saône has only six listed wateside campsites, but with clear dominance for ponds: three establishments border a pond, two near a body of water and one on a river bank. This profile is directly linked to the department's geography, which is home to the plateau of Mille Étangs, a vast territory in the south of the Vosges known for its exceptional density of natural bodies of water.

This particular landscape, shaped by glaciers and then maintained by man, offers a calm, wooded setting, very different from the large alpine lakes or fast-flowing rivers of nearby Jura. The rare campsites on river banks benefit from the Saône, still close to its source at this level of the department.

With only six campsites, Haute-Saône remains a confidential destination, appreciated for fishing and pond tranquility rather than large water activities.

What to see and do in Haute-Saône

Haute-Saône is above all known for the plateau of Mille Étangs, a territory in the south of the Vosges that owes its name to the multitude of bodies of water scattered through its forests and meadows, originally formed by glaciers. This preserved landscape lends itself to hiking, wildlife observation and fishing.

Vesoul, the department's prefecture, retains remarkable religious heritage through the Basilica of La Motte, while the town of Luxeuil-les-Bains, a former spa town, testifies to the Roman and then medieval history of the territory. Proximity to the southern Vosges adds a mountain character to this department still little visited by mass tourism.

Between quiet ponds and thermal heritage, Haute-Saône offers calm nature, away from major tourist routes.

our method

How we select every campsite

1

A verified criterion, not a promise

Every by the water campsite is checked against its official listing and real photos, not a marketing pitch.

2

Reputation, backed by reviews

We cross-check public Google ratings and reviews. An establishment below family standards doesn't make the selection.

3

Direct booking, transparent pricing

You book directly with the campsite, no middleman or hidden markup. The price shown is the price you pay.
