Aveyron has 67 listed campsites, and rivers widely dominate the offering: nearly three quarters of establishments line a watercourse, against a dozen on a lake bank and only two on pond banks. This southern Massif central department is crossed by several major rivers, the Lot, Tarn and Aveyron itself, which have carved deep gorges and shaped highly contrasted relief between limestone plateaus and green valleys.
Campsites installed on river banks benefit from preserved natural setting, conducive to swimming in moving water, canoeing-kayaking and fishing. Tarn gorges and Aveyron gorges concentrate much of this offering, with land often nestled at cliff foot or valley bottom.

Aveyron is discovered around its major natural and heritage sites. Millau viaduct, one of the world's highest road bridges, dominates Tarn valley and constitutes an unavoidable crossing point. Tarn gorges, spanning Aveyron and Lozère, offer spectacular panoramas over the plateaus and are crossed by canoe or on foot.
Conques village, classified among France's most beautiful villages and historic step on the Way of Saint James, deserves a visit for its Romanesque abbey church. Cuisine enthusiasts will discover Roquefort, produced in the natural caves of Roquefort-sur-Soulzon, a few kilometres from the great plateaus.
Lévézou and Aubrac plateaus, with their altitude landscapes and lakes, lend themselves to hiking and water sports in summer. Rodez, the department's prefecture, completes the visit with its Soulages museum and Gothic cathedral.
