Canet-de-Salars, in the Aveyron department (Occitanie), is a small village on the Lévézou plateau, built on the shores of Lake Pareloup. The campsite listed here faces this body of water: there's no sea in this inland part of the Massif Central, but it does have one of the largest artificial lakes in France.
Lake Pareloup, created by the building of a hydroelectric dam in the mid-twentieth century, spans several hundred hectares at the heart of the Lévézou, a granite mid-mountain plateau known for its gentle relief and its wind turbines.
Camping in Canet-de-Salars means choosing a stay by a large body of fresh water, far from the coast, in a rural, hilly setting typical of the Aveyron, ideal for swimming, sailing and fishing.
Lake Pareloup, which directly borders Canet-de-Salars, is the town's main draw: with its indented shores and numerous coves, it has become one of the main water sports spots in the Aveyron, from sailing and windsurfing to trout fishing.

The proximity of Rodez and Millau, with its famous viaduct, makes it possible to round out a lake-focused stay with a discovery of Aveyron heritage, between the Tarn gorges and the neighbouring causses.
