Everything about the campsites by the water in Deux-Sèvres

Deux-Sèvres presents a reduced but balanced offering of 10 campsites, distributed almost equally between river bank (3), pond bank (3) and lake bank (3), with a single establishment by the sea. This landlocked department organises first and foremost around its inland waters.

The two Sèvres, Niortaise and Nantaise, as well as the Marais Poitevin, weave a dense network of watercourses hosting river-bank campsites. Ponds and lakes, more numerous in the north and east of the department, complete this offering for fishing and swimming.

Deux-Sèvres thus suits campers seeking a waterside stay, between marshes and countryside, rather than direct coast access.

What to see and do in Deux-Sèvres

Marais Poitevin, nicknamed the Green Venice, is the natural major site of Deux-Sèvres. Its canals lined with poplars and ash trees are discovered in traditional boat, rowed or poled, in a unique atmosphere in France.

Niort, the department's prefecture, retains an imposing medieval keep on the banks of Sèvre Niortaise, as well as a lively market hall quarter. The town is a natural starting point for exploring the marsh.

The territory, still largely rural, also lends itself to cycling along banks, in preserved bocage and wet area landscape.

our method

How we select every campsite

1

A verified criterion, not a promise

Every by the water campsite is checked against its official listing and real photos, not a marketing pitch.

2

Reputation, backed by reviews

We cross-check public Google ratings and reviews. An establishment below family standards doesn't make the selection.

3

Direct booking, transparent pricing

You book directly with the campsite, no middleman or hidden markup. The price shown is the price you pay.
