Everything about the campsites by the water in Dieppe

Dieppe, in the Seine-Maritime department, in Normandy, is considered France's oldest seaside resort, born as early as the nineteenth century at the foot of its chalk cliffs. Three camping establishments are listed in the town, benefiting both from sea access and from the closeness of the Arques, the river that flows into the harbour.

People camp here for the mix of a genuine, still-active fishing harbour, known for its scallops, and a pebble-lined seafront typical of this Normandy coast. Dieppe appeals both to lovers of maritime heritage and to those seeking a seaside less built-up than its more fashionable neighbours.

The town lends itself to a stay combining the beach, the market and walks along the Arques estuary, right in the heart of the harbour. Dieppe thus keeps a rare balance between the life of an active harbour and the atmosphere of a seaside resort more low-key than its neighbours.

What to see and do in Dieppe

Dieppe's château-museum, a fifteenth-century fortress perched above the beach, overlooks the town and houses in particular a collection of carved ivory, a legacy of Dieppe's maritime trade. The harbour, one of the oldest fishing harbours on the Channel, remains known for its scallops, celebrated every year at a dedicated festival.

The pebble beach, lined with lawns where kite-flying and outdoor games are popular, stretches at the foot of the chalk cliffs that characterise this whole stretch of the Normandy coast. The Arques estuary, which crosses the town before reaching the sea, rounds out the picture of a harbour still active between fishing and pleasure boating.

Dieppe's town centre, with its market hall and well-known market, extends the visit beyond the seafront alone. The cliffs that frame the town on either side finally offer fine viewpoints over the harbour and the sea.

our method

How we select every campsite

1

A verified criterion, not a promise

Every by the water campsite is checked against its official listing and real photos, not a marketing pitch.

2

Reputation, backed by reviews

We cross-check public Google ratings and reviews. An establishment below family standards doesn't make the selection.

3

Direct booking, transparent pricing

You book directly with the campsite, no middleman or hidden markup. The price shown is the price you pay.
