Camping Le Joncal: 300 m from the sea in Grandcamp-Maisy
Located on Quai du petit Nice in Grandcamp-Maisy (14450), Camping Le Joncal enjoys a rare setting: 300 metres from the sea, on the edge of an unspoilt fishing harbour, close to the town’s typical market and at the heart of the D-Day landing beaches area. Open from 10 April to 20 September 2026, it welcomes holidaymakers for nearly six months, a generous season for the Normandy coast.
A Capfun-listed site, the campsite offers mobile homes (with a special mention for the sea-view Habana, particularly popular), chalets and pitches for tents, caravans and motorhomes. Capacities suited to 2 to 8 people.
The surroundings are very different from classic seaside resorts: Grandcamp-Maisy remains a genuine fishing harbour, with its authentic atmosphere, its everyday fishermen, its typical market with attractive prices. A break in the Cotentin that blends a seaside holiday, simple pleasures and the emotional weight of remembering the landing beaches.
Services and comfort at Camping Le Joncal
Camping Le Joncal opts for an intimate format with no restaurant or bar-snack bar on site. A choice that fits the spirit of the place: you’ve come to experience authentic Normandy, and you eat at the traders of the harbour and the village. The typical market at Grandcamp-Maisy, a short walk from the campsite, offers very attractive prices and ultra-fresh produce: catch of the day, oysters from the bay, salt-meadow lamb, Normandy cheeses, cider and calvados, early potatoes.
The harbour restaurants serve seafood and grilled fish at reasonable prices, with views over the fishing boats. A unique atmosphere that appeals to fans of authentic maritime heritage.
On the practical facilities side, you’ll benefit from wifi in communal areas, bed linen and cleaning kit rental, a shared tumble dryer, fridge and washing machine rental. Conditions: pets accepted, wheelchair access, free cancellation. Payments: credit card, cash, bank transfer, ANCV holiday vouchers. Reception speaks French and English, useful given the Anglo-Saxon memorial tourism presence in the region.
Activities and leisure by the sea at Camping Le Joncal
In high season, Camping Le Joncal offers Capfun entertainment suited to a calm family setting: sports tournaments, team games, themed evenings, mini-disco for children, a supervised kids’ club, mascots. On site: a multisports pitch, pétanque, table tennis, play areas. The atmosphere remains more relaxed than at the large campsites in the South, in keeping with the surroundings.
On the sea side, 300 metres away you’ll reach the beaches of Grandcamp-Maisy: shellfish gathering at low tide, walks along the sea wall, watching fishing boats, long walks on the sand. The Normandy sea is powerful and beautiful to watch, particularly as the tide goes out. The harbour at Grandcamp-Maisy is a living spectacle: fishing boats leaving and returning, fish markets, an authentic maritime atmosphere.
For sightseeing: the D-Day landing beaches (Omaha Beach 10 minutes away, Pointe du Hoc, Utah Beach), the American cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer (a must), the Landing Museum at Arromanches, Bayeux and its tapestry, Mont-Saint-Michel 1 hour 30 minutes away. A destination combining family holidays and memorial tourism, absolutely worth experiencing at least once in a lifetime.
