Courseulles-sur-Mer, in the Calvados department, in Normandy, is a small oyster-farming harbour open onto the Channel, known for its oysters as much as for its history tied to D-Day. One campsite is listed in the town, benefiting from the beach and being right next to the harbour.

The surrounding area, between Arromanches and Ouistreham, naturally extends the discovery of the D-Day landing beaches.
The house where General de Gaulle set foot on French soil on 14 June 1944, preserved in the town centre, adds a further stop to this D-Day memory. The seafront promenade, laid out along the beach, rounds out this visit with a simple waterside walk.
