A 5-star campsite with your feet in the water in Dunkirk
Camping La Licorne is located at 1005 boulevard de l’Europe in Dunkirk, in the seaside district of Malo-les-Bains, one of the crown jewels of the Nord coast. Its uniqueness lies in its rare location: direct access to the North Sea beach from the campsite, with no need to get back in the car. This exceptional setup on the Hauts-de-France coast makes all the difference. The 5-star estate spans a carefully landscaped park with shaded, well-defined pitches to preserve everyone’s privacy. Accommodation ranges from contemporary mobile homes to more spacious versions for large families. The immediate proximity of the free buses serving the shops and the centre of Dunkirk means you can do everything without constraint. Open for a particularly extended season, from 3 April to 1 November 2026, the campsite holds a remarkable rating of 9.2/10 across more than 3,100 customer surveys, one of the best ratings in the region, a mark of exceptional quality.
Restaurant, bar and free buses to the shops
Catering on site is comprehensive: an à la carte restaurant showcases Flemish flavours, carbonnade, mussels and chips, welsh rarebit, dishes from the North, seafood from the North Sea, complemented by a bar-snack bar for quick service with pizzas, platters and ice cream. Both establishments are open during the campsite’s extended season, from 3 April to 1 November 2026, allowing you to enjoy the mild shoulder seasons too. The outdoor terrace overlooking the park is very popular at the end of the day. On the entertainment side, the Capfun team runs high season with its Clapou clubs for 4-6 year-olds, Politicator for 7-10 year-olds, Nobodys for teens, as well as water wake-ups, sports tournaments and themed evenings. Practical services include a convenience store, a daily bread delivery service, a launderette, wifi in communal areas and bike hire. The exclusive advantage of the Boudigau: the free buses serving the shops and the centre of Dunkirk from the campsite.
The beach, historic Dunkirk and the Opal Coast
La Licorne’s location opens up an exceptionally rich playground. Malo-les-Bains beach, reachable on foot directly from the campsite, unfurls its immense stretch of fine sand and its Belle Époque villas that give the seaside district its charm. Fans of sand yachting and kitesurfing will find one of the best spots on the northern coast here. Dunkirk, the historic capital of maritime Flanders, reveals its harbour, its UNESCO-listed belfry, its Mémorial du Souvenir and its port museum. The Dunkirk carnival, in February-March, is one of the most famous in France. Further along the Opal Coast, Bray-Dunes and its immense beach, Cap Blanc-Nez and Cap Gris-Nez with their spectacular cliffs, and Calais are within a short distance. Belgium, with magnificent Bruges, is 45 minutes away for a change-of-scene excursion. On the campsite, a multisports pitch, pétanque and table tennis tables keep sports fans busy every day. For children, the region’s theme parks round out the offer.
