Sevrier, in the Haute-Savoie department, in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, lines Lake Annecy, one of the most renowned bodies of water in France for the purity of its water. The single campsite listed here is set on the lakeshore, with the mountains of the Bornes massif and the Tournette as a backdrop.
Camping in Sevrier means enjoying direct access to Lake Annecy, just a few kilometres from Annecy town centre, without its summer crowds. The town, stretched along the western shore, offers a complete Alpine setting, between freshwater swimming and hikes on the surrounding heights.
This setting, both lakeside and mountainous, sets Sevrier apart from the portal's more classic seaside destinations, while offering the same swimming pleasures.
Lake Annecy, often described as one of the cleanest in Europe, borders the whole town of Sevrier and lends itself equally to swimming, sailing or paddleboarding. The greenway that runs along its western shore makes it possible to cycle to Annecy's historic centre, following the water's edge for almost the whole route.
From Sevrier, the view reaches the opposite shore of the lake, where the Château de Menthon-Saint-Bernard stands out, perched on its rocky outcrop. The mountains that frame the lake, including the Tournette, offer many hiking trailheads reachable directly from the shores.
Being close to Annecy, with its old centre crossed by canals and its medieval castle, naturally rounds out a stay set on the quieter shores of Sevrier.
