Huttopia pioneered “slow” nature camping: wood-and-canvas tents, cabins and forests, with no rows of mobile homes. On this page: its selection of waterside campsites, for a holiday between natural swimming and lazing about.
Every by the water campsite is checked against its official listing and real photos, not a marketing pitch.
We cross-check public Google ratings and reviews. An establishment below family standards doesn't make the selection.
You book directly with the campsite, no middleman or hidden markup. The price shown is the price you pay.

A radically nature-focused approach: wood-and-canvas accommodation blended into nature, no rows of mobile homes, and campsites chosen for their natural beauty: often by a lake, river or the sea.
Yes: lakes, rivers and heated pools with a natural design, depending on the site. Supervised wild swimming is part of the experience at many locations: some campsites sit directly on the shore of a lake or river.
The furnished tents are rented at a price close to a standard mobile home; bare pitches remain very affordable, especially outside July and August (May, June, September). Families can also benefit from VACAF assistance at some campsites.
Depending on the campsite: canoeing, fishing, hiking, swimming in a lake or river, cycling along the banks. Guided excursions are offered by local teams to explore the surrounding countryside: gorges, lakes, forests, alpine pastures.
Yes, families with children are welcome. Most campsites offer a pool, play areas, and nature activities suited to children. The spacious accommodation and the immediate closeness of nature make it an ideal experience for little ones.
